New infrastructure fund announced

Local government and not-for-profit organisations are eligible to apply for infrastructure grants of between $20,000 and 
$10 million
under the Australian Government's new National Stronger Regions Fund.

Greater economic focus for RDAs following national review

RDA committees will have a stronger focus on supporting the economic growth of their regions following a national review of the RDA network.

The Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Warren Truss laid out his new vision for RDAs at the national SEGRA (Sustainable Growth for Regional Australia) conference in Alice Springs earlier this month.

The focus will now be firmly on driving economic development and enhancing regional comparative advantages, based on consultation and engagement with community leaders.

RDA Brisbane co-hosts economic delegation from China

RDA Brisbane joined forces with Economic Development Australia (EDA) and the Queensland Government to host a 22-person economic delegation from China in September this year.

Career Hunter app renamed "CareerMe"

Career Hunter, a free app which provides career advice to young people and helps them find jobs in industries with skill shortages has been relaunched as "CareerMe".

The app, developed by The Thumb Factory, is a joint initiative of The Smith Family, RDA Brisbane, Busy at Work, Group Training Queensland and the Australian and Queensland Governments. Busy at Work has taken over management of the project.

World thought leaders to feature at G20 Brisbane Global Cafe

Seventy-five of the world's most innovative and brilliant minds will feature at the Brisbane Global Cafe on November 12-13 at Brisbane City Hall, a companion event to the upcoming G20 Leaders' Summit.

CLICK! Digital Expo report out now

A report on the outcomes of CLICK! Digital Expo 2014 is now available on the CLICK! website, including results of the post-expo attendee survey.

An initiative of RDA Brisbane, the free two-day event at Brisbane City Hall in March attracted more than 1200 businesses and not-for-profits, and featured 41 exhibits, 36 seminar sessions and demonstrations of new technologies such as 3D printing.

Book now for Lord Mayor's Business Forum

The next Lord Mayor's Business Forum on November 6 will explore how to build an online presence and grow your business, with tips and insights from successful local entrepreneurs and Brisbane's Chief Digital Officer Cat Matson.

The event at the Tavernetta Function Centre, Carseldine, is free and will run from 7.15pm to 9.15pm.

RDA Brisbane has a regular table at the Business Forums, promoting ‘whole of government’ initiatives, programs and services for businesses, along with several Council officers who can provide one-on-one advice on a range of Council services for business.

Start-ups given a $25,000 helping hand

Brisbane's latest up-and-coming entrepreneurs will share in nearly $25,000 from the Lord Mayor's Budding Entrepreneurs Program.
